FAINTED TO SOLEMN CALM

Happy Anniversary!

To one once close, now distant, dear.

Like clay that danced in spring’s warm hand,

You bloomed, then slipped like grains of sand.

You stained our hearts, you clung to time,

A ghostly echo, lost in rhyme.

Are you still near—just out of view,

Or just an edge we’re falling through?

Your pictures linger on each wall,

More vivid than your silent call.

I stand where grief and silence lie,

And whisper, Do heroes say goodbye?

Pain bends the shape of what is real,

Distorts the truth that time can’t heal.

I dial the phone, though silence stays—

It once would ring in brighter days.

The season thinned, though time runs deep,

Long memories awaken while I can’t sleep.

We know inside, the truth is worn:

You’ve journeyed far, you won’t return.

The door still waits, the knocker still,

Holds out for hands it cannot feel.

The ground still sparks beneath the sky,

Each night, a tear time can’t deny.

So rest in peace, drift soft and still,

As only timeless heroes will.
